How to choose your favourite Chrysanthemum
Once established in the garden plants that are vigorously growing and that are producing good healthy blooms should be marked so hat they can be used for propogating new plants from cuttings.
Soil preparation and plating
Early floweing Chrysanthemums require a sunny and sheltered site. They like well drained soil with a pH value of about 6.5.
For most soils the ground should be prepared in late autumn or early winter, incorporating plenty of organic matter. Light soils need not be perpared until early spring.
Before planting insert 1.2 m canes about 50 cm apart . Then plant each Chrysanthemum next to the cane, with a root ball just covered with a shallow layer of soil. Tie the stem of each plant to the cane and water in well.
