Eliminate Weeds and Improve Your Garden
The biggest nightmare in any garden is weeds and the re-occurrence of weeds. However most people don't realise that plants are an excellent tool for combating weeds in the gardens but for them to kill those weeds the plants need to be fully grown and well rooted. There are four main categories for weed control. There are various chemical weed killers available to kill weeds, mulching can be used, and you can manually kill weeds using garden tools or cultivate your weeds using a machine.
However the use of chemical weed killer is the most common form of weed control within the garden and the advantage of using such products is the herbicides within the product are highly effective in killing those ugly weeds including the persistent perennial weeds that re-occur which are a gardeners biggest headache. Mulching is a method used to deprive the weeds of essential light that they need to grow and many gardening pundits would advise that a simple method to do this would be to spread a black bin liner on the area of weeds.
There are different weed killer products available on the market and dependent on the chemicals in them they all work differently. Contact weed killer products are applied directly on the green part of the weeds you want to kill. The disadvantage of this type of weed killer is that below surface the roots remain so is not suitable for perennial weeds. If you have continual active growth of weeds such as perennial or annual weeds then you need to use a weed killer that when applied is carried around the whole plant including roots. For weeds on lawns it is advisable to use a selective weed killer product. This type of product contains active ingredients which will selectively control these types of weeds without harming healthy plants around the weeds. Always ensure you read the label carefully before using any pesticides in the garden.
