Gardening Advice for Mowing your Lawn
Lawn Care to Get The Best Results
The best gardening advice for a beautiful and luscious green lawn is regular mowing. Mowing your lawn regularly keeps the grass neat and tidy and ensures healthy growth. The basic rule of mowing is that the grass needs to be long enough to be able to feed the roots in the soil but also short enough to be correctly managed. If you want your lawn to be perfect and healthy and the envy of your neighbours then you need to cut your grass so it is no longer than 2.5 cm long.
The best time of year to begin mowing your lawn is around spring time in March and the last cut of the year should be around autumn in October. If you are an amateur gardener then the most important piece of gardening advice is mow your lawn little and often as you will get a better finish on your lawn. It is advisable to cut your grass according to seasons and most garden experts will advise twice a week in summer and once a week in spring and autumn. Mowing the lawn frequently stops weed growth and a moss invasion that can ruin the lawn. The most valuable garden tip for mowing the lawn is to mow it when it is dry weather. Mowing frequently means your lawn will be look nice and be much healthier and free from the weeds.
Leaving the grass cuttings on the lawn when mowing in dry weather allows the grass to feed off the cuttings. After the first cut in spring remove all the cuttings as they will be too long and do more harm than good. Thereafter, the cuttings can be left as they will breakdown very easily, or alternatively you could try your hand at home composting and pile them on a compost heap or in a compost bin.
